What is the TOEFL®?
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL®) is an exam used to measure the language proficiency of non-native English speakers who wish to enroll in North American universities.
Where can I take a TOEFL® exam prep course?
We offer prep courses in all of our US and Canada schools with the exception of Los Angeles Whittier and Santa Barbara, and also offer them at London Leicester Square. In addition, students have the option of enrolling in our TOEFL® online course.
What are the courses like?
Our TOEFL® and Academic English Exam Preparation courses focus on test-taking strategies and highlight the skills necessary to succeed.
Every week, the course is divided into 20 lessons of TOEFL iBT® and Academic English and 15 lessons of structured study (please note that the structure is a bit different at our Leicester Square school).
The first and larger group of lessons will focus on strengthening the English language skills necessary to succeed. However, our lessons further complement these language skills with invaluable discussions of test-taking strategies and review of practice tests. In this way, students feel not only prepared for the material tested on the exam, but also comfortable with the layout and workings of the exam itself.
In the structured study lessons, students will take up to 8 full-length TOEFL iBT® simulations every two weeks, receiving feedback on all sections to familiarize themselves and to fully understand the expectations of the exam. Other materials in these structured study sessions may include audio materials, books, and a customized study plan.
Classes have an average of 12 students, but never more than 15.
