Slowly then again forever, Apple is selecting off an increasing number of former Android buyers. A model new file from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners indicates that 26% of people who bought the iPhone 6s within its first month of release switched over from Android. In previous years, Android switchers accounted for 12% of iPhone 6 buyers and for 23% of iPhone 5s buyers in CIRP’s surveys.
“The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus launch attracted a greater percentage of Android owners compared to a year ago,” explains Mike Levin, Partner and Co-Founder of CIRP. “This says a little more about the very hot iPhone 6 and 6 Plus launch, which motivated more iPhone upgrades than in previous years. The share of buyers coming from the Android platform for this launch more resembles the long-term trend in Android and iOS switching.”

Another interesting finding of CIRP’s survey is that a greater percentage of iPhone buyers seem to be picking up the larger iPhone models this year. The iPhone 6s Plus accounted for 37% of sales of new iPhone models this year, whereas the iPhone 6 Plus accounted for just 25% of new model sales in 2014.
